Iran Visa Information

Visitors to Iran must obtain a visa from one of the Iranian diplomatic missions unless they come from one of the visa exempt countries or countries eligible for visa on arrival. All visitors must hold a passport valid for at least 6 months. Admission is refused to women not wearing Islamic head cover, scarf, long sleeves or stockings. Israeli citizens are totally banned from entry to Iran.


Types of Visa

There are two types of Iran visa for tourist purposes:

  • Iran Tourist Visa

 We would advise you to apply for a tourist visa. Iran tourist visa procedure has 6 steps:

1.Fill out the Visa application form.

2.Wait for the application receipt confirmation and application fee payment instruction.

3.Pay the service fee.

4.You will receive the visa authorization code after 7-10 working days.

5.Refer to the Iranian consulate you have selected and collect your visa.

6.Inform us about the receipt of the visa.


  • Iran Visa On Arrival (VOA) or Iran airport visa


It is now possible to obtain your visa for Iran when you arrive in the airport. This process is named "Visa On Arrival" and is possible in 7 different internationals Iranian airports. However, due to the possibility of visa rejection it is risky option.

  • VOA is not available for journalists and military personnel.


  • Thanks to this visa, you will be granted a period of 30 days to visit Iran.


  • This process is not available for the following citizens:

Iran Tourist Visa for U.S., Canadian and British Citizens:

Citizens of these countries must be accompanied by a registered tour guide. It is not possible for them to travel without a tour guide. They should apply through an Iranian travel agency who will arrange the issuance of an invitation letter and a reference number. By referring the reference number to the nearest Iranian embassy, the applicants can easily collect their visas. In some cases flight and hotel reservation might be needed for the process. In this case the travel agency will do the bookings after receiving the deposit.

Tourists who are originally not from these countries but hold their passports, may get the reference number more easily and can travel in Iran without a full time tour guide.

Iran Visa Fee

For receiving your Iran visa you will have to pay the embassy fee and Iran travel agency service fee. The embassy fee is based on your nationality also on the embassy you will receive your visa from. Some embassies may charge for their services which is also due to change at any time. There for the best way of being informed of the exact embassy visa fee is contacting the embassy close to when you need it.
